About the Regina Speed Skating Club
The Regina Speed Skating Club (RSSC) was formed in 1965. As
a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, the goals of the
Regina Speed Skating Club are:
- To create an environment for the development, promotion and
organization of recreational and competitive speed skating.
- To organize and participate in speed skating competitions and
demonstrations.
- To encourage the development of coaches and officials.
- To provide financial assistance for developmental clinics and
sanctioned meets.
The Club uses the Jack Staples Arena for short-track
speed skating and the Mount Pleasant Oval for long-track.
We actively
participate with the provincial and national organizations. Skaters
from the Club have started their careers locally and then moved to the
national program and have participated in the Olympics.
Each fall and winter, the Club offers a free six-lesson "Learn to Skate" program at
the indoor facility. The objective of the program is for children to
learn to skate and have fun on the ice. The Learn to Skate children also learn about speed
skating and are encouraged to join the club as members following the
program.
We also offer a free "Try Speed Skating" program for those who want
to try speed skating without joining the club first.
Check out our Registration page for
information on these programs and how to register your child.
